Hatteras Beach and lighthouse scene. The light at the top is automated and is visible every 7.5 seconds. In good visibility conditions, the beacon can often be seen for 20 miles out to sea on the Atlantic Ocean, although its official range is 24 miles under optimal conditions. Over 1 million bricks were used in the construction of the structure, which was built between 1868 to 1870 at a cost (then) of $167,500. Cape Hatteras Light is located on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina near the community of Buxton, and is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
I am a professional photographer and artist, have been shooting digital since 1999 and before that I used film. I do a lot of stock photography work, shoot travel images for tourism companies, shoot portraits and just retired from wedding photography. I think I've done it all at one time or another in my 25 years as a photographer. I also paint from my photographs. I love scenery, landscapes, flowers, barns and houses, to name just a few. I have photographed and painted literally hundreds of barns and buildings and am working a little each day to upload my work to this site. Since I work for the tourism industry, I have a lot of travel imagery and some of it has also been painted or sketched. Thanks for visiting my art...
