Surrey with the fringe on top. No automobiles are allowed on Mackinac Island so there are a lot of horse carriages and surreys to give visitors a ride from one part of the Island to another. It is very old-fashioned, quiet and slow over there. It's peaceful and beautiful. This is a painting inspired by a visit to the Island in 2009 and photographs that I made during our visit.
I am a professional photographer and artist, have been shooting digital since 1999 and before that I used film. I do a lot of stock photography work, shoot travel images for tourism companies, shoot portraits and just retired from wedding photography. I think I've done it all at one time or another in my 25 years as a photographer. I also paint from my photographs. I love scenery, landscapes, flowers, barns and houses, to name just a few. I have photographed and painted literally hundreds of barns and buildings and am working a little each day to upload my work to this site. Since I work for the tourism industry, I have a lot of travel imagery and some of it has also been painted or sketched. Thanks for visiting my art...

A marvelous painting, Anne. You have really captured the feel of Mackinac Island. I have been viewing the Mackinac Island images trying to decide whether to upload some more of my own. This one is a favorite.
